Contemplating Silence; A present of reflection

For the rest of my birthdays, I have decided to contemplate silence as my own birthday present of reflection. I wont speak from midnight to midnight, on every March 17th until I die, with very few written communication. The performance should begin and end submerged under water, to mark the clear entrance to new stage of my life. This exercise is part performance, part personal challenge, and part meditation. Inspired by Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation.

This performance is based on observation and self-exploration, focusing on the interconnection between mind and body, going through an exercise of awareness, non-delusion, self-control and inner peace.

The thought manifests as the word;
the word manifests as the deed;
the deed develops into habit;
and habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its ways with care,
and let it spring from love born out of concern for all beings...
As the shadow follows the body, as we think, so we become.
