Olympic Shopping Cart Tour

This is an excerpt with from the 30 minute video that came out of the residency/exhibtion Of Hunger Homelessness and Spectacle at the vivarium gallery during the Olympics. As part of the piece I traveled all around Vancouver downtown area, capturing the disparity between the Olympic facade and the homelessness reality, with a camera installed in a shopping cart. At the same time I was participating in the hunger strike relay organized by Am Johal, along with the curator of the gallery jamie griffiths.

The 2010 Homelessness Hunger Strike Relay began on December 29th, 2008 to call for the re-establishment of a national housing program in Canada. Each week, new volunteers in Canada will join the fast for 7 days. The hunger strike will continue past the 2010 Olympic Games to highlight misguided public spending priorities by all three levels of government.
