From the Ashes Series ( 2009-ongoing )

When I encounter a tree in nature that has been hit by a lightning, I remove my clothes and take a picture inside the tree. An exercise of encountering a situation in nature, where I reflect about my position of in time and space in relation to the present experience, and death. The possibility of being hit by lightning, the birth that lies within destruction, a site of nature that for me comes the closest to trauma, and the visceral mark left by a sudden strike of light. No matter the geographical location, the site of the wound remains the same.
